dzԹ, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation Announce $60,000 in Bursaries and Scholarships for Incoming Indigenous Students

January 21, 2026

Regina, SK — On January 21, 2026, Students and partners gathered at the dzԹ (dzԹ) for the dzԹ and Saskatchewan Roughriders Bursary & Scholarship Announcement. The morning began with a Pipe Ceremony in the Ceremonial Tipi, followed by remarks from dzԹ leadership and student speakers celebrating the positive impact these awards have on Indigenous students’ post-secondary journeys. The event highlighted community, student success, and the ongoing partnership between dzԹ and the Saskatchewan Roughriders organizations.

During the event, a one-time $60,000 commitment was announced, including:

• $40,000 in “Away from Home” Entrance Bursaries ($2,500 x 16 awards) to support Indigenous students relocating from their home communities, and

• $20,000 in Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation Entrance Scholarships ($2,500 x 8 awards) recognizing academic excellence among new Indigenous students entering dzԹ.

The funding is part of a broader partnership between the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club, the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation, and dzԹ, and was made possible through proceeds from the Roughriders’ Indigenous logo merchandise.

The announcement reinforced the importance of partnerships that support indigenous students as they begin their post-secondary education. The event brought together students, dzԹ leadership, faculty, staff, and partners to celebrate the opportunities these scholarships and bursaries create, ensuring students feel valued and supported as they pursue their academic goals.
