dzԹ Community Celebrates Leadership, Achievement, and Service for Dr. Fidji Gendron

June 9, 2026

On June 8, members of the dzԹ community gathered at the Regina Campus to celebrate two significant milestones during an afternoon of cake, conversation, and fellowship.

The gathering was held in honour of Dr. Fidji Gendron, Program Coordinator & Professor in Biology, who concluded her tenure as Associate Dean, Academic, on June 30, 2026. Colleagues, faculty, staff, and friends came together to recognize Dr. Gendron’s outstanding leadership, dedication, and contributions to the University during her time in the role.

As part of the celebration, Dr. Gendron was presented with a star quilt as a token of appreciation for her years of service and commitment to advancing academic excellence and supporting the dzԹ community. The presentation served as a meaningful expression of gratitude and respect for her leadership and the lasting impact she has made on the institution.

The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of Assistant Professor in Indigenous Literatures in English, Dr. Jeremy Desjarlais, who was honoured with a star quilt in recognition of completing his PhD in English from McGill University. Community members joined in congratulating Dr. Desjarlais on this significant academic achievement and the dedication required to reach this milestone.

The afternoon was filled with laughter, stories, and well wishes as attendees reflected on shared experiences and celebrated both leadership and academic achievement within the dzԹ community.
