On June 2, 2026, Lionel Peyachew, Associate Professor of Indigenous Fine Arts, was formally invested into the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. He received the award from Her Honour the Honourable Bernadette McIntyre, S.O.M., Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, during a formal ceremony.
As an artist, educator, mentor, and member of Red Pheasant Cree Nation, Lionel has dedicated his career to uplifting Indigenous voices, fostering meaningful dialogue, and inspiring future generations through the arts. His work continues to create lasting impact in communities across Saskatchewan and beyond.
We are honoured to celebrate this milestone alongside Lionel and recognize the profound contributions he has made through his creativity, leadership, and commitment to education.
